Our History
In 1945 E.L. Schneider, our grandfather, and C.B. Hayes started Home Furniture in Lawrenceburg, IN. The company expanded across the street and renovated the George H. Bishop's Factory at 20 East Center Street to become our flooring center.
Schneider's daughter Margaret, our mother, married our father Charles Brandel Sr., who joined the company in the 1950's. In the following years, Charles, along with Bud Ruble, took over after the retirement of Schneider and Hayes. Due to rapid growth in 1969, construction was started for a new showroom on Highway 50. Some time later, Charles’ sons Chuck and Joe took over after Bud and Charles retired. Their sister, Sarah, and Chuck's wife, Debbie, worked alongside them.
Today, Sarah has an active role in the business and her son Chris, fourth generation, oversees the daily operations at the furniture store on Highway 50. Joe oversees operations at the flooring store alongside his son, Nick.
